Shelley Malil, was arrested Monday night as he got off a train in Oceanside afterMalil had taken the train from Los Angeles to meet with his attorney, who along with family and friends had persuaded him to turn himself in, police said.
On Sunday night about 15 miles (25 kilometers) east in San Marcos, deputies answering reports of screams for help and breaking glass found a woman with multiple stab wounds and cuts on her face, with no suspect at the scene.Police allege that he chased down the ex-girlfriend and reports claim that he stabbed her at least 20 time.
She was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition Monday morning. Authorities did not know her condition early Tuesday.Malil and the victim had apparently been in a dating relationship which recently ended,
Malil, is an Indian American, was born in Kerala, India and immigrated to the United States in 1974.
