Amman, Jordan – Day 1 : Bloody Tired & Exhausting

This is supposed to be a one week trip to Jordan and Egypt, private tour. On this trip are my dad, brother and me. Why my dad chose to go to these places, I don’t know, rather go to cool weather counties like ALASKA.. nice views and cute animals like polar bears and penguins :-D. Nevertheless, I’m happy to be on this trip. It’s the first time we are flying with Emirates. Nice, but I prefer MAS. So the plan was we leave KL for Dubai where we transit there and then proceed to Amman, Jordan. We’ll be in Jordan for 4 days and then later go to Egypt for 4 days then 1 day at Duubai. Then back to home sweet home Malaysia.

I didn’t sleep while in the flight from KL to Dubai, was busy watching the latest movies showing on the in flight movies. Manage to watched The Blind Side and District 9. I love Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side and District 9 is such a good alien movie, one of my favourites. Great leading actor and cute aliens :-p. I was damn tired and sleepy by the time we finally reached Amman.

I’m gonna make this blog short and brief because I’m freaking damn tired to blah blah blah a lot. It’s 9 30 pm here and I have to get up for breakfast at 6 30 am because we are leaving for Petra at 9am, it’s a 3 – 4 hours drive from where we are currently staying. So below are the events that took place :

1. Reached Amman, taken by tour guide to hotel where we checked in. Tight security at the entrance of hotel. The car is scanned with some sort of a detector (for BOMBS I assumed) and before entering the hotel, we have to put all our belongings through a scanner (you know, those luggage kind of scanner). If i remembered correctly, a bombing took place at Amman, can’t remember exactly which hotel. Had 4 hours of rest before we left the hotel and begin our first visit of Amman.

2. At 3 pm left the hotel. Went to visit Citidale of Amman. Beautiful place. There are some elements of Greek. There was a Roman Theatre, something like a Coliseum. By the way, love the weather here. It’s sunny but the air is cool, unlike the bloody damn hot weather of Malaysia. So I started to take some pictures. I really don’t like people taking my pictures, always end up looking like a fat cow. There will only be 1 or 2 pictures that will look decent. Plus it was damn windy so it made my hair look like shit in most of the pictures. I told my dad many times not to take my pictures from far distance but nooooooo he never listens. Hence, the fat cow pictures, displaying how fat my arms and tighs are. There are certain techniques in taking pictures to make yourself look good despite having buffalo arms and tighs. But noooooooo, my dad insist on making me look like a fat cow. I’m gonna posts pictures of myself which I THINK I LOOK GOOD ONLY.

The view from Citidel of Amman.. Located at the hill so it's very windy....

3. After the sightseeing, we went to visit my mother. She’s staying at Zarqa with her family. Through out the visits, i find out that the people here are quite friendly. The children are soooooo cute... I like the houses here, made out of limestone. It look so square, no roofs. The only problem is that the houses look kindda dull because all of them have the same colour, brown sandy colour.

4. After visiting my mother, we went back to our hotel. Ate dinner buffet, great food. Tried eating olive fruit, YUCK. Disgusting taste. I don’t know how my bro and father can stand eating it. But the coconut pudding was sooooo damn nice. Wanted to eat more but I was too full since I ate some cakes at my mom’s house which she baked since we are visiting her. Her chocolate cake is sooo nice.

5. And the lifestyle in Amman? The men and women walk far from each other, unless they are married or family relatives, then they will walk together. I asked my mother this and she said it was the culture. Unlike in Malaysia, you can see people dating, hold hands, etc... My mom said that’s why most of them end up with family arranged marriage. Date only after you are married. Now that’s a real Islamic way of life.

Oh yeah, and on the very first day of my trip, i caught sore throat and running nose. My running nose was soo bad that it turned red, making me look like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
