Hi,
My first passport was issued on mar 31 1998..with expiration date of 30 mar 2008. I lost this passport and one more (obtained thru tatkal in india) and the latest passport (also issued thru tatkal in india) has issue date of 1 nov 2003 with expiration date of 30 mar 2008 (same expiration date as the original passport).
My question is should i be applying for passport renewal or a new one at Indian consulate SFO (i stay in that jurisdiction)
If renewal, will they just endorse the new expiry date as 30 mar 2018 (i.e will i get back the same passport)?
Pls clarify this?

I have filed on August 10th and I do not have a receipt either. I guess we need to be patient. I have checked even people with July 19th are waiting.

In same context, if I140 is approved with employer A as a future employee. Can present employer use it to extend visa by 3 yrs, w/o going through labor/GC process

have a US visa stamped and has not expired, they will not let you board a plane to UK.
If you have GC, then there is no need for transit visa. If you are on AP, then you will need transit visa.
I think in the 50s and 60s, an Indian passport holder could enter the UK based on holding a commonwealth passport. Wonder why that policy changed? ;)

I dont think you can change your vote.
In any case this poll is only to get a feel of how things are out there. A wrong vote here or there does not matter
As long as 2003/2004/2005 folks who have already-filed stay in low numbers it might indicate good PD movement in those years (since numbers wont be used up so soon and USCIS/DOS might have to move dates forward to start pushing out approvals. New people will then file and the usage will climb and dates slow down again).
If, on the other hand USCIS is sitting on tons of 2003/2004 PD I-485s, then date movement is going to be slow

You could file CP for one and continue with AOS for another and see which one comes out successful sooner. Theoretically you could have any number of applications for a green card; but for simlicity's sake (USCIS not yours) it is always wise to stick to one.

while make illegal aliens legal.. the current S.2611 says the illegal pay back taxes and go through a process like us to get citizenship.

They may have to deflate the dollar in order to pay it off as the countries that normally buy US treasuries are experiencing their own crunches. The financial bailout has the affect of being a huge wealth transfer from the middle class to the wealthy where there already is growing income inequality. Plus the Iraq war costs muchos dineros. In summary, I am bearish about the US economy, dollar, and future prospects over the next decades. Some economists say that the Bush (Jr.) years cost the economy (If I remember correctly) around T$9. A staggering amount.
Canada has her fiscal house in order if not political house in order. (There will likely be yet another election in the next few months.). Canada has been posting government surpluses provincially and federally in the last decade or so, so Canada is prepared for what will likely be a mild recession. (The belief is that they'll be out of recession 2nd half 2009) Plus the banking system was not allowed to go leverage wonky like down here. So there is no big bailout, and no big financial issues. There are some credit issues but I believe that they are spillover from the US. Canada has buttressed the banks but to place them on an even keel with bailed out US banks. Scotia bank, for example, has rejected the efforts saying they're not needed.
Wages are lower and taxes are higher but if you have a family it may be beneficial because daycare and other child related expenses are subsidized. I think it is 9 or 12 months paid maternity leave, for example.
Job market is pretty tough. Though there is likely more unemployment now in the US due to differences of measurement.

Our 140/485 filed with NSC, then moved to CSC for receipting, got WAC receipt #, then moved th TSC, pending since July 2007.
RD=7/23/07
Notice Dae =9/19/07
on 9/20/07, all cases moved to TSC. Nothing happened even withourt LUD.
FP notice received and done in January 2008.

Even otherwise i dont think it is a problem, they can change the form again to show your respective status ?
He doesnt have to fill out I-9. Anyone else can do it. How did lawyer provide them with EAD? Didnt they mail the card to your place?
If I were you, and if it is true they changed your status without your knowledge, I would write them 4-5 F*** letter worded emails with copy to the boss.

It all depends on how short you are..Following are options
1. Housing loan from India: Secured loan but very high interest rate, not very difficult to get
2. Personal loan from India: Unsecured loan with very high rate. Not very sure abt this.
3. Personal loan from US: rate between 8-12%. Max amount is around 20K USD
4. Home equity line of credit: If you own a home and have equity. You should be a loan against it at very reasonable rate. and I think, it has some tax benefits also ..
