Lil Wayne Unplugged Hits MTV2 Sunday (VIDEO)

On Sunday, MTV2 will feature Lil Wayne on the long-running series, Unplugged. The young man who has virtually held hip-hop in his palm for the last few years (even while in jail) should be a nice fit for the format of the show. Honestly, when I think Unplugged, I immediately think back to the night MTV aired the entirely acoustic set of Nirvana. I was probably about thirteen, and it changed my life. Here was a band, known for beating on amplifiers until they produced ungodly amounts of distortion, and even destroying their instruments?playing calmly and clearly. It was a sort of pure irony that has always stuck with me. In much the same sense, Wayne is the Nirvana of his time. If you consider popularity amongst the younger generation, influence, and record sales, he truthfully is. So it is very fitting that MTV has invited him to sit and perform a calmer, more collected set for the show. It will be complete with hits like Six Foot Seven Foot, but also a tribute to Tupac with Hail Mary.
